Organic vs. non-organic (pesticide-free) jojoba oil, what’s the difference?

If it was solely based on how HobaCare and HobaCare Organic feel on the skin, it would be impossible to know!

We provide first-press, unrefined, golden, pesticide-free jojoba that has all been processed in accordance with organic standards. We can’t certify the non-organic HobaCare Jojoba and HobaCare Baby as organic for one of two reasons:

• The seeds harvested for the jojoba are from fields that are in transition from pesticide-free to organic, or
• The seeds are from fields that were farmed conventionally, and the growers used commercial fertilizers, not certified organic fertilizers, on the plants that produce the jojoba seeds pressed for our pesticide-free jojoba. The use of conventional fertilizers makes organic certification impossible.

Our Certified 100% HobaCare Organic Jojoba and HobaCare Baby Organic have been grown and processed in accordance with the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program (USDA NOP). Our certifier is the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA), whom the USDA NOP authorizes as organic certifiers. Please click here to view our organic certificate.

Since we just shared a bit about our production, we’d love to go a little deeper, including the question, does jojoba oil need to be organic?

Other companies source jojoba from around the world, singularly focused on finding the lowest cost. Not us. Alongside our farmers, we’re a small vertically integrated company that harvests our jojoba directly from a single source. Without a middleman, we’re there from seed planting to HobaCare bottling.
