jojoba oil for pets-3

Looking for an easy, natural, and homemade pet paw balm? If so you’ve come to the right spot. This quick and simple combination of jojoba and beeswax makes an ideal non-toxic, all-natural balm to help soothe and protect paws. Protecting paws is especially important during dry, cold winter months, but can also be very helpful for pets during the summer when paws are treading on hot surfaces.

Jojoba is non-allergenic and non-toxic, making it an ideal skin/paw treatment for animals. Pets, including cats and dogs, tend to lick their paws, thus any DIY lotions or ingredients must be 100% non-toxic. Jojoba is a humectant, which means that it will help the skin retain moisture. The beeswax in this mix is occlusive and will help seal in the jojoba and moisture as well as create a fantastic barrier on paws. If paws are especially dry, cracked, or irritated, apply a small amount of plain jojoba to paws each night. In the morning apply balm to help seal in jojoba and create a barrier.

Jojoba is also an amazing product to clean & soothe itchy ears. Being naturally anti-microbial many of our customers say it works wonders at soothing hot spots. Learn more about using jojoba oil for cats, dogs, and other pets.

DIY JOJOBA OIL BEESWAX PET PAW BALM

1 oz beeswax (or less for softer balm)
1 oz HobaCare Jojoba Oil

Prepare a double boiler to melt the beeswax. When water is steaming, add beeswax and allow it to melt. Stir in jojoba and warm again if needed. Pour into a tin large enough to fit paws or into a shallow container that will make the balm easily removable to put on paws. If you find this ratio of beeswax & jojoba to be too thick, add more jojoba to make it a softer “lotion”. Simply reheat and add in a little more jojoba then allow to cool.

Essential oils can be toxic to some animals (specifically cats) thus we DO NOT recommend adding any essential oils to pet products.
