Have you ever asked yourself ‘Can you use jojoba oil to remove makeup?” or ‘Is jojoba oil good for removing makeup’? If you’re looking to minimize toxic ingredients in your skincare and streamline the products you use, consider using HobaCare Jojoba Oil for makeup removal and facial cleansing. One of our customers tells us that her eyelashes are longer and fuller now that she is using jojoba as her eye makeup remover. Pure jojoba has many fantastic benefits for the skin, which make it the ultimate makeup remover and facial cleanser. In case you haven’t spent much time reading about these benefits on our website, here are a few: non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog pores), non-allergenic, prevents dryness, and the alpha, delta and gamma tocopherols found in jojoba are all forms of Vitamin E, which eliminate free radicals.

*Jojoba is actually a wax ester and not an oil, to learn more about that see our in depth page with information about Jojoba. We refer to it as an oil because it’s what people understand but we prefer to call it an “extract” instead.

To use jojoba oil for makeup removal: add a few drops of jojoba to your fingertips and massage over your face/eyes. Wipe with a clean, dry cloth or cotton ball. Repeat if needed. When all traces of makeup are removed, rinse your face with water and wipe with a damp washcloth or use your favorite cleanser, then apply a drop or two of jojoba to your face.

This is one serious multi-tasking oil: “Jojoba oil can be used as a moisturizer, hair shine enhancer, makeup remover, face wash, cuticle treatment, foot softener, lip balm, and sunburn relief treatment,” (from How (and Why!) You Should Use Jojoba Oil in Your Beauty Regimen)”

Stacy Chimento, M.D., a dermatologist at Riverchase Dermatology in Miami Beach, Florida.

Using jojoba oil for makeup removal is a simple process. There are two methods to try, give both a try and see which one works best for the makeup you use and your skin type.

FIRST METHOD: add a few drops of jojoba to a damp cotton ball or cotton pad then wipe over the face and eyes. Use multiple cotton pads if you use lots of makeup. If there is still makeup in your lash line, add a drop or two of jojoba onto a cotton swab and rub along the lash line. When all traces of makeup are removed, rinse your face with water and wipe with a damp washcloth or use your favorite cleanser, then apply a drop or two of jojoba to your face.

SECOND METHOD: for this jojoba oil makeup remover method, add a few drops of jojoba to your fingertips and massage over your face/eyes. Wipe with a clean, dry cloth or cotton ball. Repeat if needed. When all traces of makeup are removed, rinse your face with water and wipe with a damp washcloth or use your favorite cleanser, then apply a drop or two of jojoba to your face.

using jojoba oil for makeup removal can streamline your beauty routine
Jojoba oil can be used for removing makeup, as a moisturizer, hair shine enhancer, face wash, cuticle treatment, foot softener, lip balm, and sunburn relief treatment

Jojoba oil can also be used as an alternative to other oils in the oil cleansing method.

Simply massage a half teaspoon of jojoba onto your face for a minute or two, then lay a hot, damp washcloth over your face for a minute. Wipe your face with the damp washcloth and you’re finished. This method will remove both makeup and dirt and leave skin feeling extra soft & moisturized! Read our full post on this method here.

You can also use jojoba makeup remover to clean and condition your makeup brushes. It is especially beneficial if you use natural bristle brushes. Massage a few drops into the brush, wash with a gentle shampoo or a Castile soap and let them air dry. It’s beneficial to massage a very tiny amount of jojoba into the brush after washing to maintain the natural bristles of your brushes (this is not necessary with synthetic brushes).

Have you tried using jojoba oil for makeup removal?

Note: Not all jojoba is created equal, some brands of jojoba include lower quality jojoba, deodorized jojoba, or jojoba with other ingredients. Make sure you are using only first-press, unrefined jojoba oil for removing makeup, especially if you’re using jojoba oil as an eye makeup remover as the skin is delicate around the eyes. This is especially important if you have sensitive or reactive skin! Rest assured HobaCare Jojoba is of the highest quality.

Jojoba oil is a safe and gentle option for removing Halloween makeup as well, read this post for more information.
